Craig Kasten

Craig Kasten

Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder

Craig Kasten leads SKYGEN USA in bringing next-generation claims management and technology tools together for healthcare organizations interacting with benefits. Mr. Kasten is an accomplished leader whose career in the managed healthcare industry spans 30 years. He is the founder or co-founder of several SKYGEN USA companies, including Wonderbox Technologies, Scion Dental, Vestica Healthcare, American Therapy Administrators and Hylis Pharmacy Solutions. He also co-founded Doral Dental USA and grew the company to a market-dominant position before its sale to DentaQuest Ventures.

Mr. Kasten continues to provide vision, strategic direction and creative support for functional design innovations to the Enterprise System, Wonderbox Technologies’ proprietary benefit management platform. He also provides oversight and strategic direction for new service innovations for Scion Dental and Vestica Healthcare.  

Prior to launching his entrepreneurial career, Mr. Kasten served concurrently as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of CareNetwork, Inc., a publicly traded regional health plan later acquired by Humana.  Mr. Kasten holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Wisconsin.

Mr. Kasten was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 2003.  In 2005, he was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the Marquette University School of Business Administration.

Greg Borca

Chief Executive Officer

Known as an innovator in the benefit management industry, Greg Borca has co-founded and led several successful companies, including Doral Dental USA, Scion Dental, Vestica Healthcare and Hylis Pharmacy Solutions. As Principal, Mr. Borca is responsible for the overall direction and growth of the SKYGEN USA Family of Companies. 

Mr. Borca’s business experience and leadership expertise have enabled him to pioneer more effective strategies for benefit management. By pairing state-of-the-art technology with innovative business models, he has drastically reduced costs while improving the overall experience for members and providers. He has also driven the creation of innovative outreach tactics that increase member access to care. The SKYGEN USA companies under Mr. Borca’s leadership have expanded rapidly into positions of market leadership.

Mr. Borca’s entrepreneurial career began when he founded Resolute Systems, Inc., a national mediation and arbitration company. Before he partnered with Mr. Kasten to create Doral Dental, one of the largest benefit management companies in the U.S., he also founded Mednet of America, Inc.

Mr. Borca holds a Bachelor’s in Organization and Leadership from Marquette University. He serves on the national board for Voices for America’s Children, an organization that advocates for the well-being of children at the federal, state and local levels of government.

Mr. Borca was named an Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 by Ernst & Young. In 2004 he was named on The Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list. In 2011 he received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Marquette University’s College of Professional Studies.

John Schaak

As President of Scion Dental, John Schaak is responsible for ensuring that clients receive the highly innovative and ever more efficient services that they have come to expect from Scion Dental as their partner, and as a leader in the dental benefits management industry.  This includes continuing to leverage its unique technology to significantly reduce the cost to clients in delivering dental benefits.  It also includes providing leadership within the industry by, among other things, overseeing the company’s initiative to help protect children from fraud and abuse within the Medicaid dental program.

Mr. Schaak brings to his position extensive leadership experience in matters of business and in child advocacy. Prior to joining Scion Dental, Mr. Schaak was a Partner with the national law firm Quarles & Brady. There, he created and oversaw an award-winning truancy court program that continues to provide pro bono legal assistance to unrepresented students. In addition to managing the program, he was also one of its volunteer attorneys. During his time in private practice, Mr. Schaak also served as a volunteer attorney for Marquette University’s Volunteer Legal Clinic. Mr. Schaak also is a founding and current member of the Board of Directors for the Wells Street Academy, which is a school for children with special needs.

Mr. Schaak has been listed on the Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Rising Stars list multiple times. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. 

Mark Borca

Vice President of Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development for Scion Dental and Ocular Benefits, Mark Borca oversees all aspects of business development and monitors client expectations both during and after the implementation process. He is responsible for ensuring a positive experience for all clients, current and prospective, as well as strategies for improving Scion Dental and Ocular Benefits’ value propositions. 

Mr. Borca’s experience in benefit management spans 14 years, and includes business development and client retention responsibilities in the Medicaid managed care arena. He specializes in government programs, including provider network contracting, client management, provider compensation and risk management strategies.

Mr. Borca joined Scion Dental at the company’s formation. Prior, he served in various capacities at Doral Dental USA.  He was asked to step into his current role based on a proven track record for successful new business acquisition and the effective management of client relationships.

Gail Buenger

Gail Buenger

Vice President of Operations 

As Vice President of Operations, Gail Buenger guides Scion Dental’s progress in its next stage of rapid growth. She is responsible for strategy execution, relationship development, and change acceleration in both internal- and customer-facing operations that furthers the company’s strong track record of innovation in dental benefit management.  Ms. Buenger oversees all operational functions of Scion Dental including the departments of Client Services, Provider Relations, Claims and Administration, and the Call Center.

Ms. Buenger is an accomplished healthcare operational business leader with experience in driving change and organizational growth. Before joining Scion Dental, she was Director/Chief Integration Officer of the Healthcare Division’s Revenue Cycle Solutions practice at Navigant Consulting, Inc., a global professional services firm. Prior, she spent 13 years with a leading regional integrated health care delivery system, Aurora Health Care, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She held positions of increasing responsibility, including Aurora’s first Director of Corporate Compliance, and then Regional Vice President of Operations. After creating the Office of Project Management Services, she was appointed to the role of PMO Vice President. Additionally she served in a dual capacity as Chief of Staff to Aurora’s Chief Operating Officer.  While at Aurora, the largest private employer of Wisconsin-based employees in the state, Ms. Buenger earned her law degree.

Ms. Buenger is active in the community, currently serving as an Officer and Board Member for The Guest House of Milwaukee, a non-profit that provides shelter, housing, education, employment, and health-related services to the homeless in Milwaukee. Previously she served as an appointed community member serving the Ozaukee County Health and Human Services Board for a number of years.

Ms. Buenger, a life-long Wisconsin resident, holds a Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School, as well as a certificate in alternative dispute resolution from the University. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Dr. Fred Tye

Chief Dental Officer

Dr. Fred Tye is the Chief Dental Officer for Scion Dental, where he oversees all aspects of the company’s utilization review and management activities. In his role, Dr. Tye develops and implements clinical criteria algorithms utilized in the authorization process, and designs provider profiling measurement tools and their applications. Dr. Tye is also part of the team involved in determination, interpretation, and analytics related to the management of client dental benefits.

A licensed dentist since 1977, Dr. Tye has more than two decades of experience in various corporate settings, including direct experience in strategic planning, dental operations, network development, risk management, and consulting. Prior to joining Scion Dental,  he managed CIGNA Health’s nationwide PPO and DHMO dental networks, built a DHMO business unit for Delta Dental Plan of Illinois, and provided dental capitation pricing for numerous Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans while at Dental Network of America.

Dr. Tye earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Loyola University School of Medicine, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.  At the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, he earned an MBA with a concentration in Health Management and Finance.

Beverly Meyer

Director of Dental Administration

As Director of Dental Administration, Beverly Meyer’s goal is to deliver seamless, high quality service and operational results for Scion Dental’s clients and their members. Ms. Meyer oversees the Dental Review, Dental Reimbursements, and Appeals, Complaints and Grievances departments, ensuring that company standards for timeliness and quality are met, and staff remain knowledgeable and compliant with regulatory and client requirements. Under her leadership, Scion Dental implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies, cost effectiveness and improved service levels.

Prior to joining Scion Dental, Ms. Meyer held a series of leadership positions at multinational insurer AIG in the areas of operations and new business development. 

Ms. Meyer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/Public Relations from Wartburg College. She holds a Master’s of Science Management with an emphasis in Leadership from American College.

Jeanine Saer

Jeanine Saer

Director of Centralized Administration

As Director of Centralized Administration, Jeanine Saer oversees the Call Center Operations, Claim Intake and Office Services departments for Scion Dental. She is responsible for meeting client requirements and expectations, creating cost effective and efficient processes, and delivering superior service.

Ms. Saer had been in her role for several years before Scion Dental became the first dental company to be awarded full accreditation for Claims Processing and Health Utilization Management by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC). She specializes in driving process improvements and efficiencies through teamwork across departments.  By fostering collaboration, she is helping to build a world-class organization focused on exceeding client expectations and delivering stellar results. 

Ms. Saer holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An avid exercise enthusiast, she has completed five marathons and continues to pursue her personal goals in the sport.

Patrick Ruesch

Patrick Ruesch

Director of Provider Services 

As Director of Provider Services, Patrick Ruesch brings a client-centric focus to the development and management of successful provider networks for Scion Dental clients. He oversees the Network Development, Credentialing, and Provider Services departments, ensuring Scion Dental maintains networks in alignment with the requirements of each client as well as the National Committee for Quality Assurance, and delivers a high quality of service to providers.

In his role, Mr. Ruesch is responsible for creating innovations that help ease the process of benefit management for provider communities. He provides leadership in identifying, developing and implementing provider management best practices and problem resolution. He collaborates with Scion Dental’s Chief Operating Officer on strategic initiatives to better align the departments to meet organizational objectives. He also works to foster an environment of continuous improvement though process and systematic efficiencies.

Mr. Ruesch brings nearly three decades of experience in the health insurance industry to his role. Prior to joining Scion Dental, he served as Global Operations Manager for Ingenix, a leading health information technology and services company and a business of UnitedHealth Group. His areas of expertise include network development, provider relations, claim operations, training and development, call center operations and global operations.

Mr. Ruesch holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Patrick Ruesch

Nancy Chevremont

Director of Client Services 

As Director of Client Services, Nancy Chevremont ensures Scion Dental provides exceptional client management and results-driven solutions to help government-sponsored health plans improve the cost effectiveness of dental benefits. She leads the account management team in anticipating client needs and responds with management solutions that drive high levels of satisfaction. The success of her team contributes to the expansion of strong client relationships and overall growth of the company.

Ms. Chevremont is an experienced leader with a track record of managing growth in home health agencies. Before joining Scion Dental, she was Regional Vice President of Hospice Advantage, Inc., where she was responsible for overall operations and compliance for the company’s Wisconsin and Minnesota locations. Prior, she served as Regional Director of Operations and then Executive Director for AseraCare Home Health. Ms. Chevremont has earned numerous awards for her performance in the areas of revenue and profitability growth, and twice has been named Administrator of the Year during her career in healthcare.

Ms. Chevremont holds a Masters of Science degree in Health Services Administration from Cardinal Stritch University as well as Bachelor of Arts degrees in Public Administration and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

How will you handle the new requirements for individual benefits mandated by Essential Health Benefits?

The advent of Essential Health Benefits in 2015 will stress all legacy systems, as no prior benefit plan has ever offered different benefits for dependents as opposed to the subscriber and spouse. We will be able to administer all plans without the need to assign different plan IDs to parents and dependent children.

Will we have a dedicated/specific 800 number for members and providers?

Yes, Scion Dental offers a variety of options for toll-free telephone numbers. We can adapt a clients' existing telephone numbers and route them to our call center, and we can set up any number of new toll-free numbers based on specific client requirements.

How do you operate as an “invisible partner”?

We offer private-label options so our clients’ members and providers have a seamless experience with their benefits management program. We can customize our web portals and printed materials with our clients’ logo and color scheme. In addition, our customer service representatives can answer calls with our clients’ name.

How do you recruit eligible providers for our network?

We use a variety of techniques to recruit, educate, and maintain providers in a network, including web portal outreach, mailing campaigns, telephone campaigns, and on-the-ground outreach. Our goal is to contract the majority of eligible providers in the first 30 days.

How can you help us promote quality service from providers?

Scion Dental incorporates numerous tactics in its daily operations to help ensure quality service from providers, including ongoing provider training and education, credentialing and primary source verification, site visits (when appropriate), and quality improvement plans and processes.

Can you really create a paperless process?

Yes. The Enterprise System, developed by our sister company Wonderbox Technologies, is designed to support paperless workflows through web-based architecture, built-in document management system, and fully integrated self-service web portals. Our paperless environment is one of the fundamental ways we maintain low administrative costs.
