Craig Kasten

Craig Kasten

Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder

Craig Kasten leads SKYGEN USA in bringing next-generation claims management and technology tools together for healthcare organizations interacting with benefits. Mr. Kasten is an accomplished leader whose career in the managed healthcare industry spans 30 years. He is the founder or co-founder of several SKYGEN USA companies, including Wonderbox Technologies, Scion Dental, Vestica Healthcare, and American Therapy Administrators. He also co-founded Doral Dental USA and grew the company to a market-dominant position before its sale to DentaQuest Ventures.

Mr. Kasten continues to provide vision, strategic direction and creative support for functional design innovations to the Enterprise System, Wonderbox Technologies’ proprietary benefit management platform. He also provides oversight and strategic direction for new service innovations for Scion Dental and Vestica Healthcare.  

Prior to launching his entrepreneurial career, Mr. Kasten served concurrently as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of CareNetwork, Inc., a publicly traded regional health plan later acquired by Humana.  Mr. Kasten holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Wisconsin.

Mr. Kasten was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 2003.  In 2005, he was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the Marquette University School of Business Administration.

Greg Borca

Chief Executive Officer

Known as an innovator in the benefit management industry, Greg Borca has co-founded and led several successful companies, including Doral Dental USA, Scion Dental, and Vestica Healthcare. As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Borca is responsible for the overall direction and growth of the SKYGEN USA Family of Companies. 

Mr. Borca’s business experience and leadership expertise have enabled him to pioneer more effective strategies for benefit management. By pairing state-of-the-art technology with innovative business models, he has drastically reduced costs while improving the overall experience for members and providers. He has also driven the creation of innovative outreach tactics that increase member access to care. The SKYGEN USA companies under Mr. Borca’s leadership have expanded rapidly into positions of market leadership.

Mr. Borca’s entrepreneurial career began when he founded Resolute Systems, Inc., a national mediation and arbitration company. Before he partnered with Mr. Kasten to create Doral Dental, one of the largest benefit management companies in the U.S., he also founded Mednet of America, Inc.

Mr. Borca holds a Bachelor’s in Organization and Leadership from Marquette University. He serves on the national board for Voices for America’s Children, an organization that advocates for the well-being of children at the federal, state and local levels of government.

Mr. Borca was named an Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 by Ernst & Young. In 2004 he was named on The Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list. In 2011 he received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Marquette University’s College of Professional Studies.

John Schaak

As President of Scion Dental, John Schaak is responsible for ensuring that clients receive the highly innovative and ever more efficient services they have come to expect from Scion Dental as their partner, and as a leader in the dental benefits management industry.  This includes continuing to leverage its unique technology to significantly reduce the cost to clients in delivering dental benefits.  It also includes providing leadership within the industry by, among other things, overseeing the company’s initiative to help protect children from fraud and abuse within the Medicaid dental program.

Mr. Schaak brings to his position extensive leadership experience in matters of business and in child advocacy. Prior to joining Scion Dental, Mr. Schaak was a Partner with the national law firm Quarles & Brady. He is an experienced speaker who, among other things, has addressed the national conference of The National Association of Dental Plans, providing his vision of “The Insurance Company of the Future.”  He further takes every opportunity to speak about the need to protect children from pediatric dental abuse, including a recent presentation to the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association on “Pediatric Restorative Benefits: Potential for Fraud & Abuse.”

Mr. Schaak serves on the Board of Directors for the Wells Street Academy, which is a school for children with special needs.  During his time as a practicing attorney, he also created and oversaw an award-winning truancy court program that continues to provide pro bono legal assistance to students.

Mr. Schaak has been listed on the Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Rising Stars list multiple times. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. 

Lance Stewart

As SKYGEN USA’s Chief Growth Officer, Lance Stewart is a champion for the company’s technology-enabled solutions, bringing new and innovative products and services to existing clients and markets as well as exploring new opportunities created by the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. He is focused on helping payers and delivery systems transform their organizations by taking advantage of everything from large enterprise administration and technology initiatives to individual point solutions that solve specific needs. With his strong commitment to exemplary client service and collaborative approach to both internal and external relationships, Mr. Stewart has a demonstrated ability to help players in the healthcare continuum grow their businesses while reducing costs, improving operations, and serving their members more effectively.

Mr. Stewart has an extensive background in helping organizations add new customers, enter new markets, and launch new products and services. He joins SKYGEN USA from Medecision, a leading software as a service (SaaS) population health and risk management company, where he was Senior Vice President and Market President. Prior to that, he held positions as Vice President at GNS Healthcare; Vice President, Healthcare Payers, Providers, and Infomediaries at eMids Technologies; and Senior Sales Executive at McKesson Health Solutions.

Mr. Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Tulsa. He has also served in leadership roles for multiple healthcare associations, such as America Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and HIMSS, to drive improvements and innovation across payers, providers, and their constituencies.

Mark Borca

Vice President of Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development for Scion Dental, Mark Borca is the initial point of contact for new clients and prospects, with responsibility for ensuring the company continues the explosive growth it has experienced since its inception. He is also responsible for making current clients aware of new product offerings that will help them increase revenue, become more efficient, and serve their members more effectively.

Mr. Borca has been performing in this capacity for Scion Dental since the company was founded in 2009. His 20 years’ total experience in benefit management, with a specialty in government programs that includes provider network contracting, client management, provider compensation, and risk management strategies, gives him a unique understanding of the challenges clients face in an increasingly difficult market. Additionally, the extensive knowledge and experience he has accumulated about Medicaid managed care programs, both at Scion Dental and previously at Doral Dental, makes him an invaluable asset throughout the business development cycle.

Over the past 20 years, Mr. Borca has proven his ability to deliver results across a variety of roles. It is what makes him ideally suited to working as a strong advocate for both Scion Dental and its clients.

Marcel Tetzlaff

Vice President of Dental Benefits Management

As Vice President of Dental Benefits Management, Marcel Tetzlaff leads Scion Dental’s continuing commitment to helping its clients provide superior dental program stewardship. He and his team are responsible for developing and executing the company’s Enhanced Benefit Management program that is designed to ensure delivery of the most appropriate and efficient care possible. By leveraging Scion Dental’s technology, clinical, analytical and administrative expertise, the appropriate intervention can be initiated to achieve optimum performance, including recognizing and rewarding high-performing providers.

Mr. Tetzlaff comes to Scion Dental with more than 20 years of experience in managing government and commercial healthcare and dental plans. He was previously Director, Program Implementation at Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin, a multi-system, clinically integrated accountable care network. During his tenure, he oversaw all aspects of their Medicare Advantage program with payers and health systems, implemented best practices and operational standards across all health systems, and developed workflows, reports, education, training, and documentation for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), Risk Adjustment Factor (RAF), Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS) and other quality and efficiency measures. Prior to that position, he was Regional Vice President, Provider Networks at DentaQuest, where he oversaw provider networks in 12 states and new network development efforts nationally. Among his accomplishments was managing the risk business that improved loss ratios with millions of dollars in claims expense reduction. He also implemented pay-for-performance reimbursement models for providers.

Mr. Tetzlaff earned his MBA at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a major in healthcare management. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  

Dr. Fred Tye

Chief Dental Officer

Dr. Fred Tye is the Chief Dental Officer for Scion Dental, where he oversees all aspects of the company’s utilization review and management activities. In his role, Dr. Tye develops and implements clinical criteria algorithms utilized in the authorization process, and designs provider profiling measurement tools and their applications. Dr. Tye is also part of the team involved in determination, interpretation, and analytics related to the management of client dental benefits.

A licensed dentist since 1977, Dr. Tye has more than two decades of experience in various corporate settings, including direct experience in strategic planning, dental operations, network development, risk management, and consulting. Prior to joining Scion Dental,  he managed CIGNA Health’s nationwide PPO and DHMO dental networks, built a DHMO business unit for Delta Dental Plan of Illinois, and provided dental capitation pricing for numerous Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans while at Dental Network of America.

Dr. Tye earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Loyola University School of Medicine, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.  At the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, he earned an MBA with a concentration in Health Management and Finance.

Duane Wesenberg

Vice President of Information Services 

As Vice President of Information Services, Duane Wesenberg has strategic oversight and management of Scion Dental’s EDI, Implementation, and Reporting Teams. Mr. Wesenberg’s focus will be driving technology initiatives to lower costs, improve operational efficiencies, enhance customer experiences, and manage resources effectively.

Mr. Wesenberg brings more than three decades of experience in software development, enterprise resource planning, and operational management to his role. Mr. Wesenberg is an accomplished healthcare technology and business leader with experience in driving innovation and managing organizational growth. Before joining Scion Dental, he spent 14 years with a leading regional integrated health care delivery system, Aurora Health Care, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While there he held positions of increasing responsibility, including IS Manager of Business Functions, IS Director of ERP/Web Application Development, and ultimately Vice President of Information Technology for Enterprise Applications. Notable accomplishments include creation of the MyAurora Patient Portal as well as the establishment of Employee Self-service for Budgeting, enhanced reporting, Human Resources processes, and Supply Chain requisitioning.

Mr. Wesenberg holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

Mike Lessila

Director of Credentialing Services

As Director of Credentialing Services, Mike Lessila is responsible for all of SKYGEN USA’s credentialing related services and operations. This includes leading the internal credentialing function, working on growth strategies to increase the Credentialing Services provided to clients and managing SKYGEN USA’s Credentialing Service Hub and its rapid growth in the industry.

Mr. Lessila formerly was the Director of Business Development for SKYGEN USA, working with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies creating significant growth for the SKYGEN USA family of companies. Mike brings more than 20 years of experience in selecting, selling, designing and implementing new management systems, primarily in the insurance industry, to his role. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business from Concordia University Wisconsin. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Lessila is on the Board of Directors for Grace Lutheran Church & School in Menomonee Falls, WI and is a volunteer coach for middle school boys and girls basketball.

How will you handle the new requirements for individual benefits mandated by Essential Health Benefits?

The advent of Essential Health Benefits in 2015 will stress all legacy systems, as no prior benefit plan has ever offered different benefits for dependents as opposed to the subscriber and spouse. We will be able to administer all plans without the need to assign different plan IDs to parents and dependent children.

Will we have a dedicated/specific 800 number for members and providers?

Yes, Scion Dental offers a variety of options for toll-free telephone numbers. We can adapt a clients' existing telephone numbers and route them to our call center, and we can set up any number of new toll-free numbers based on specific client requirements.

How do you operate as an “invisible partner”?

We offer private-label options so our clients’ members and providers have a seamless experience with their benefits management program. We can customize our web portals and printed materials with our clients’ logo and color scheme. In addition, our customer service representatives can answer calls with our clients’ name.

How do you recruit eligible providers for our network?

We use a variety of techniques to recruit, educate, and maintain providers in a network, including web portal outreach, mailing campaigns, telephone campaigns, and on-the-ground outreach. Our goal is to contract the majority of eligible providers in the first 30 days.

How can you help us promote quality service from providers?

Scion Dental incorporates numerous tactics in its daily operations to help ensure quality service from providers, including ongoing provider training and education, credentialing and primary source verification, site visits (when appropriate), and quality improvement plans and processes.

Can you really create a paperless process?

Yes. The Enterprise System, developed by our sister company Wonderbox Technologies, is designed to support paperless workflows through web-based architecture, built-in document management system, and fully integrated self-service web portals. Our paperless environment is one of the fundamental ways we maintain low administrative costs.
